Our goal is to start with West Michigan's educators, coaches, youth pastors and neighbors on the awareness of how severe the epidemic of child sexual abuse is and what we can do to change the staggering statistics that have changed very little in over 40 years. Once that is accomplished we will move on to other districts and states.
Our mission is to continue the work done by Erin's Law which requires schools K-5th grade to teach about bad touch, good touch and sexual abuse prevention. A Way Out provides ongoing education from 6-12th grade through seminars and smaller training groups. Our organization can come to you and educate your group, seeing the signs and how to handle situations when those children are needing your help. Sexual abuse can occur at any time which is why it is important to reintroduce awarness throughout a child's education.
A Way Out also offers sexual abuse awareness training for educators and community leaders in West Michigan. This training includes information about how to spot the signs of sexual abuse and how to tenderly care for those children who are victims of sexual abuse.
As A Way Out grows awareness and provides education in our community, we believe that sexual abuse which might have gone unnoticed will be seen and children that might have otherwise slipped through the cracks will be rescued and helped. Our aim is to reduce the national statistic that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before they are 18.
Our team is made up entirely of volunteers.
That is why we are especially happy to find new volunteers who share our commitment and belief in making some changes and to doing good in the world. Do you want to support us?
